Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

On the Day of Mars, March 20, 2007, e.v., beginning Anno IVxv (103) in the New Aeon of Horus, rites were performed by Frater ASh AChD  (Brian Goldstein), commencing shortly after Sol entered Aries, to commemorate the Vernal Equinox on behalf of the Members of the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn (Order of the T.·.G.·.D.·.).  Krista Goldstein attended the Equinox Celebration as a guest.  May the energies of Sol in Aries inspire and empower you in the Great Work in the most beneficial, powerful and correct way so you may develop magickally and spiritually unto your utmost, maximum, beneficial and correct potential!  So mote it be!

The auguries received during the rite were as follows:

Word for the Equinox from Liber Legis
:  The second “righteous” from Chapter II verse 57 of Liber Legis - “He that is righteous shall be righteous still; he that is filthy shall be filthy still.”

These are the noble words of our Lord Hadit.  The word “righteous” means virtuous or devout.  Contrast this with the word “filthy”, which means something foul, dirty, corrupt or obscene.   Here, the word seems to highlight the verse, which describes a formula of sorts relative to our actions, and specifically acting with virtue and being righteous.  This forms the first part of our message from the auguries.  A qabalistic analysis of the word yields further insights.

In Hebrew, the word “righteous” would be spelled Resh (200), Yod (10), Gimel (3), Heh (5), Tau (400), Heh (5), Ayin (70), Vau (6), and Shin (300), which adds to 999.  This enumeration immediately brings to mind the equation of 111 x 9.  In this context, 111 may be taken as reference to (among other things): ALP, which is Aleph spelled in full and a reference to Atu 0 – The Fool; PLA, meaning “The Hidden Wonder”, a title of Kether; ASN, which means ruin, destruction, and sudden death, e.g., of the personality in samadhi; and APL, which means thick darkness; all suggesting that Unity may be found in the thick darkness and sudden mystical death, and that samadhi and the destruction of the ego are gates to the Crown.  The number 111 is also the third mystic number of the Sun.  The 9 can be taken as a reference to Yesod, and the subconscious of “normal” man.  Accordingly, the equation of 111 x 9 can be interpreted as Spirit, Kether and even the Sun (111), expressing or extending itself through the subconscious (the 9).  Reversed, 999 becomes 666, which is the Most Holy Number of the Sun.  The equation 111 x 6 implies a similar message that the Crown, or the invisible light of Kether, shines (expresses or extends itself) through the Sun and the Holy Guardian Angel.

In our English System of the Qabalah (see the T.·.G.·.D.·. paper entitled the “The English Qabalah”), “righteous” enumerates to 732, which has the same numerical value as Sanctuary, Secret Door, Great Arcanum, Invocation, and Rare Scents.  The numerical arrangement also is telling.  First, it can be interpreted to describe the lower will (the 7) as an extension of the Briatic consciousness (the “3” and the “2”).  Further, 7 + 3 + 2 = 12, which reduces to 3, relating to Binah, the Great Mother, the Elohim and the Supernal Triad,  whose Light and Love is the source of all activity below the Abyss.  This brings us to the Tarot card discussed below.

Tarot Card:  Five of Disks, Worry

The first observation is that this is a Small Card which describes a blind force sympathetic to its Sephirotic origin.  What is described is not Divinity itself.  Rather, the card describes a sub-element of sorts in the element of Earth (Disks), expressed from the perspective of the 5.  This is telling as to what we are working with here.  Being a 5, the card corresponds to a fixed sign, which would be Taurus as we are here working with the element of Earth/the Suit of Disks.  The 5 also refers to the first Decan of the Sign (here Taurus), which is Mercury.  Following these through from the top, the 5 directly corresponds to Geburah, which causes a disruption of the Elements.  This is the effect of Geburah on the Elements in general.  The Mercurial aspect of Taurus suggests Intelligence applied to Labor.  This aspect is central to the message here.  The matter is unstable, and under intense strain here.  This foreshadows change.  However, we must remember that every phenomena is a sacrament.  The four “5” cards convey the general notion of motion coming to the aid of matter.  There may be storm or stress, but this is not “evil”.  Rather, it guides us.   If we recognize or aware of this, and rightly interpret the phenomena in this context, even disruption, strain or stress nourishes our soul with the Celestial Wisdom.  This current of thought is further developed with the I Ching Hexagrams below.

Yi King:  27th Hexagram, I/The Corners of the Mouth (Providing Nourishment), changing to the 19th Hexagram, Lin/Approach.

The 27th Hexagram deals with the subject of providing care and nourishment for ourselves and others (the latter being in a higher, spiritual sense).  We are guided here to provide nourishment for what is right and in the right way (returning to the concept of something being “righteous”).  The standard is always the True Will and the Law of Thelema.  We must pay heed to the sides of our own nature that we cultivate.  Nature nourishes all creatures.  What we cultivate grows.  Be careful with what you seek to fill your own “mouth” with, and the seeds you plant by your thoughts, actions and words.  Act with virtue and be righteous in all that you do.  This is so important to your magickal and spiritual development.  We are warned not to injure the important parts for the sake of the unimportant.  We are further guided to be cautious in our dealings with others.  If you want to know what someone is like, just observe what sides of their own nature they cultivate.  Your Holy Guardian Angel cares for you and, in so doing, cares for the others you have the duty and privilege to care for in your life.  In the Order of the T.·.G.·.D.·., we nourish and care for our members to assist in healing the entire human race through them.  Similarly, in your own lives, you are to care for those you have the duty and privilege to care for and, in so doing, you care for the many.

The moving lines are the six in the second place, and the nine in the top place.

The six in the second place highlights that continuing to seek or provide nourishment the other way round brings misfortune.   Consider here your own nourishment, those who have the duty and privilege to care for you and those you have the duty and privilege to care for in your life.

The nine in the top place highlights that awareness of this danger (described in the preceding paragraph) brings good fortune and great blessing, and allows one to undertake great enterprises and difficult labors. These undertakings bring general happiness for oneself and all others.

The 19th Hexagram deals with the approach to the work as suggested by its name, and is altogether favorable.  It describes the light expanding within.  We have been made aware of the situation.  We now must work from our awareness, intelligently, with courage, determination and perseverance to make full use of the opportunities presented for ourselves and for others.  Making proper use of your time, as well as timing, are suggested as being important.  This brings us back again to concepts of “correctness” or righteousness in approach (right action), as well as intelligence applied to labor, and nourishment.  Joyousness and devotion are attributes of the two trigrams comprising this Hexagram.  This relates to attitude towards the work, and further suggests supreme success (becoming great) in being righteous.  May you be so, and give thanks for the Joy, Miracle and Light of Life by being a source of Light and Love for others, to the Glory of the Most High!  So mote it be!!!

The auguries provide an inspirational and practical message on how to approach the Great Work, and nourish ourselves and those we have the duty and privilege to care for in our lives.  Our actions are so important.  The seeds we plant determine the fruit of our labors.  If we are aware of how Nature guides and nurtures us, and that even stresses or disruptions are informative, we can wisely respond, and proceed in a healthy balanced way along our own course and in our relations with others.  May you gain insight from these gifts.

Love is the law, love under will.

Yours in the Great Work,
Frater ASh AChD (Brian Goldstein)
