Sacred River explores spirituality grounded in religious naturalism & progressive ethics that is both non-theistic and non-supernatural.

Greetings and welcome! Please note that this site will no longer be actively updated, although items might be added from time to time. I have moved my primary effort to my new journal, Sacred River, which you are welcome to visit as well.

This site will remain home to numerous writings regarding Thelema, Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), and Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica (EGC, also called the Gnostic Catholic Church). The site also hosts several historical documents written by Aleister Crowley, such as Liber Legis and The Gnostic Mass.

Thelema is a philosophical, mystical, and cultural system based upon a seemingly simple premise: that every person is a divine projection of the Universal All and, as such, has within him or her a True Will that is the expression of one's deepest, most genuine self which acts in perfect accord with Nature. By laboring to apprehend and express this Will, one is able to live a life of greater harmony, fulfillment, and joy.

Ordo Templi Orientis is an international society of men and women who aspire to spiritual self-realization. They offer a sanctuary wherein members can do their own Great Work of apprehending and manifesting Will. The Order has three primary functions: (1) A system of initiation that provides the fraternal, philosophical, and mystical path for individual members, (2) Creation of a spiritual society based on OTO/Thelemic principles, (3) Promulgation of the Law of Thelema.

Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica, or the Gnostic Catholic Church, is the ecclesiastical body of Ordo Templi Orientis. The EGC provides a Thelemic religious environment wherein members openly celebrate OTO mysteries. The central ritual is the Gnostic Mass, the celebration of which is perhaps the single most common activity within the Order.
