Introduction
Congenital glaucoma and congenital cataracts (see Section 23, Chapter 265) are rare disorders that can affect a newborn. Although disorders that most often blur vision, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism (refractive errors), do develop in children, they more often require treatment among adults. Certain disorders, including misalignment between the two eyes (strabismus), occur more often among children. Refractive errors and strabismus can cause a loss of vision (amblyopia).
