Introduction

Several connective tissue diseases produce prominent joint inflammation. These include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, Reiter's syndrome (reactive arthritis), and ankylosing spondylitis. Although many other conditions may also cause inflammation of the joints, these four disorders are often discussed together as inflammatory arthritic disorders.
