Psychosocial Counseling

Because strong emotions tend to worsen shortness of breath, some people suppress their emotions and thus may be caught in an emotional straitjacket. Yet, depression and anxiety are common. In addition, shortness of breath may cause anxiety and depression and interfere with sexual activity. Furthermore, a person may be unable to manage stress and relax. Through counseling, group therapy, and, when needed, drug treatment, the person may be able to better cope with these psychosocial problems.
