Visa Information

All foreign visitors to the Republic of Madagascar require entry visas.

  There are two sheets to the visa application form.
  You MUST complete both sheets and sign and date the form.
  PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download).

For business visas valid for up to three months, fees are the same as for TOURISM, and requirements are the same plus a recommendation from the company or business organization in Madagascar.

For stays longer than three months: visas are issued by the Ministère de l'Intérieur (Ministry of the Interior) in Antananarivo. Applications can be filed directly with the Ministry or at the Embassy of Madagascar in Washington for travelers who are residents of the US.

For scientific research visas valid for up to three months, fees are the same as for TOURISM, and requirements are the same plus a Research Authorization issued by the Ministère de la Recherche Scientifique (Ministry of Scientific Research) or by the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur (Ministry of Higher Education) as below:

For private boats, upon entry you will need to present information about the vessel to the Port Authorities, including:

• point of departure
• itinerary
• crew and passengers
• port of call authorization issued by nearest offfice of Service de la Marine Marchande
• date of entry in and exit from Malagasy territorial waters

List of passengers and crew members submitted by the Ship's Captain and including:

• nationality
• passport number and date of issue
  

General requirements are as for a tourist visa, however an authorization issued by the Ministère de l'Information, de la Culture et de la Communication (Ministry of Information, Culture and Communication) is also required:
