Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.

1.  On February 18, post received a written response from the 
MFA to our November 17, 2004 request for Turkish Land Forces 
Command (TLFC) confirmation of the receipt of Bradley 
Fighting Vehicle M-110 Howitzer and M-60A3 tank components 
purchased from the German company Defense Logistics and 
Aviation (DLA). 
 
2. Per the Diplomatic Note, dated February 15, TLFC confirmed 
its July 12, 2004 receipt of the following:  1) Gauge, 
Pressure P/N: J4882; Support, Adjustable P/N: 7680666; Test 
Set, Electrical P/N: 1173330.  It further stated that TLFC 
had taken receipt of two addition items ordered under the 
same contract: 1) Wrench, P/N: SM-C-771387-1; Extractor, P/N: 
6195043. 
 
4. The Note also advised that a new contract was signed with 
DLA on Feb. 12, 2005 for the following items: 1) Plug Jet, 
P/N:70351-08029-102 (12 units); 2) Beam Assy, P/N: 
70400-02213-101 (2 units); 3) Seat Diaphram, P/N 98250 (1 
unit); 4) Screw, P/N: NAS1352N3H12 (6 units). 
 
5.  We realize that this does not reflect all of the 
information requested in reftel and will follow up with the 
Turkish government for further detail.
