Understanding cables

ARTICLE VII IMPLEMENTATION

1.  Pol/Econ chief February 28 delivered reftel demarche 
concerning implementation of Chemical Weapons Convention 
Article VII to MFA Director for Bilateral Affairs Dhafer Al 
Umran.  Al Umran requested additional information about the 
provisions of Article VII, and we directed him to the 
Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) 
website provided in reftel.  He promised to pass the 
information to the MFA Directorate for Legal Affairs. 
 
2.  In a March 1 meeting, MFA Assistant Under Secretary for 
Coordination and Follow-Up Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al 
Khalifa told PolOff that Bahrain will host a delegation from 
the OPCW during the month of March.  GOB officials will 
receive training on issues related to the CWC.
