Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

SUBJECT: LETTER REGARDING 19TH POLITICAL MILITARY WORKING

On August 3, 2004, Embassy Ankara received under cover of a 
diplomatic note the following letter from Maj.Gen. Suphi Acar 
to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Ian Brzezinski 
accepting DASD Brzezinski's suggested dates for the next 
Political Military Working Group meeting. 
 
BEGIN TEXT 
 
29 JULY 2004 
 
Dear Mr. Brzezinski 
 
I received your letter concerning the 19th Political Military 
Working Group (PMWG) meeting.  We agreed on proposed date 
mentioned in your letter.  Week of 20 September is acceptable 
for PMWG and Security Cooperation Working Group (SCWG) as 
well. 
 
We would like to discuss the agenda items of the PMWG quite 
prior to the meeting with your staffs or the representatives 
from your Embassy in Ankara, our staffs can make necessary 
arrangements afterwards. 
 
I very much look forward to our meetings with you and your 
staffs.
