1. Embassy transmitted the following diplomatic note to the 
Turkish MFA on March 29, 2006:

The Embassy of the United States of America presents its 
compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the 
Republic of Turkey and has the honor to refer to the 
Ministry's Note USGY-I 6782 of August 4, 2005 regarding the 
proposed text of an agreement covering the inspections of 
conventional armaments and equipment subject to the CFE 
Treaty, note number 1587 of the Embassy of the United States 
of America dated October 4, 2005, and the Ministry of Foreign 
Affairs Note USGY-I-663, dated February 2, 2006. The Embassy 
on behalf of the United States Government has the honor to 
inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the necessary 
procedures for entry into force of the Agreement have been 
completed and that the Agreement shall be considered to have 
entered into force on the date of this note in accordance 
with paragraph IV of the Agreement. 
 
The Embassy of the United States of America avails itself of 
this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 
the assurances of its highest consideration.

2. On March 31, we contacted Selcuk Sancar in the MFA Arms 
Control Department, who confirmed receipt of the note and 
that the CFE Host Country Agreement is now in effect.
