Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

1.  (U) This message is Sensitive but Unclassified -- Please 
handle accordingly. 
 
2.  (U) On May 14, poloff conveyed to the Indonesian 
Department of Foreign Affairs ref A non-paper with USG offer 
of assistance for Indonesian stabilization police deploying 
to the UN peacekeeping mission in Darfur (UNAMID).  Cognizant 
officials in the office of International Security and 
Disarmament, which handles UNAMID issues, are out of the 
office this week, but office staff undertook to forward to 
them USG request regarding equipment and/or training needs 
for immediate review.  Mission has requested a meeting with 
cognizant officials upon their return the week of May 19 and 
will report any substantive response at that time. 
 
3.  (U) Mission confirms UNDPKO report that Indonesia is 
preparing to deploy a Formed Police Unit (FPU) to Darfur (ref 
B).
