Understanding cables

SUBJECT: TURKISH MFA REQUESTS FACILITATION FOR RED CRESCENT 
TRAVEL TO IRAQ

1. This is an Action Request. 
 
 
2. Embassy Ankara received a faxed diplomatic note from the 
Turkish MFA around 7:30 PM Friday requesting urgent Embassy 
assistance to facilitate the travel of a Turkish Red Crescent 
Society group to Iraq for humanitarian aid purposes.  The 
group is travelling October 20.  In the dip note the Foreign 
MInistry says that the American and Iraqi authorities have 
been informed of the visit by the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad. 
 
 
 
 
3. Attached to the dip note is a list of 13 people with dates 
of birth and passport numbers as well as vehicle information 
for seven vehicles.  Post has faxed the dip note and attached 
list to EUR/SE. 
 
 
4.Post requests Washington, Centcom and CPA assistance in 
facilitating the travel of the Turkish Red Crescent group. 
Kindly pass on this information as appropriate. Post thanks 
the Department, Centcom and the CPA for their assistance.
