Understanding cables

1.  (SBU) Pol M/C discussed reftel points with Office 
Director for Middle East and Maghreb Sabine Sparwasser April 
7.  Sparwasser was acquainted with the situation and said the 
German Government took the issue seriously.  She pointed out 
that the American Cooperative School of Tunis also has 
"partnership" status with the German Foreign Office, which 
heightened Germany's interest in the case. 
 
2.  (SBU) Sparwasser said the Foreign Office intended to 
summon the Tunisian Ambassador to protest Tunisian Government 
actions toward the school, and she said Germany would be 
prepared to carry out a demarche in Tunis as well, in 
coordination with the U.S. Embassy.
