Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.

ΒΆ1.  (U) In response to reftel request, Post confirmed that 
the NATO Accession protocols for Croatia and Albania were 
approved by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National 
Assembly on January 28 and are scheduled to be ratified by 
the plenary assembly on the afternoon of January 29.  Then 
the text will be sent to the French Senate for action.  The 
Senate does not yet have a date for consideration, but the 
Foreign Affairs committee is aware that ratification of the 
NATO protocols is a priority of the MFA.  Post will report on 
the Senate vote once it is scheduled.
