Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.
To understand the justification used for the classification of each cable, please use this WikiSource article as reference.

REVIEW SESSION

REF: SECSTATE 7242

(SBU) PolOff discussed reftel points with the MFA's Human
Rights and International Organizations Department Head Kinga
Simon January 29. Simon stated that Hungary will provide an
oral statement during the periodic review rather than
submitting written recommendations, as the oral statement
will be more visible and hopefully have more impact. She
said Hungary will address many of the same issues highlighted
by the USG, including the following: violations of religious
freedom; discrimination against religious minorities;
nationality issues related to children with only one Iranian
citizen parent; and violent crackdowns by the government
following the 2009 elections. In addition, Simon said that
Hungary will express its opposition to the death penalty
provisions in Iran.
