Understanding cables

(SBU) On 18 February, poloff delivered reftel demarche to 
German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Haiti desk officer 
Thomas Motak.  Motak advised poloff of the German 
government's contribution of two million USD to the United 
Nations for the training of the Haitian National police 
force.  Motak also highlighted that Germany had contributed 
significant funding through the European Union for the 
recovery and reconstruction of Haiti.  Motak acknowledged 
that any future contributions by Germany to MINUTASH would be 
directed to UNDKPO/OMA in New York, as encouraged in reftel.
