Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
  • The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
  • The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
  • The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.

Discussing cables
If you find meaningful or important information in a cable, please link directly to its unique reference number. Linking to a specific paragraph in the body of a cable is also possible by copying the appropriate link (to be found at theparagraph symbol). 1. (U) Embassy conveyed talking points contained in reftel to 
Dr. Teguh Rahardjo, Deputy Minister for Research, Science and 
Technology Program, State Ministry for Research and 
Technology, and to his deputy, Ir. Nada Marsudi, on August 
11.  Dr. Rahardjo expressed appreciation for the information 
and indicated the government of Indonesia (GOI) would 
directly submit nominations to the organizers of the Research 
and Innovation Symposium during the week of August 11. 
 
2. (SBU) Dr. Rahardjo advised that he is the new APEC 
Industrial Science and Technology Working Group (ISTWG) focal 
point for the GOI.  Rahardjo and Marsudi explained that for 
budgetary reasons, the GOI typically sends representatives to 
only one ISTWG meeting per year, generally in Singapore. They 
welcomed the opportunity for subsidized travel for two GOI 
representatives to the upcoming symposium.
