I was having trouble getting the tractor started the other day. It was cold and had just started snowing. As usual for this time of year, I am about a month behind being ready for winter. Seems like we get most of our special projects done here in North Idaho during the late fall, as a part of getting "ready for winter." That got me to thinking. There's lots to think about while sitting on a dead tractor in the middle of a snowstorm, you see.

This time, I was thinking about what I wasn't getting done and how it wouldn't even be necessary if I lived someplace nice and warm - San Diego, for example. But, then, I wondered if I ever would take a break from my duties at the seashore and golf course to get anything done. But, then, there wouldn't be that much that needed to be done, since Winter never comes to San Diego.

I let the glow plugs warm up, then cranked the starter yet again. More time to sit and think, as it turned out. I thought about life in the North, versus the South. I thought about how we came to live where snow falls, in the first place, and the effect that has had upon us as a race.

Evolutionism is not proven, as evidenced by the fact that it properly is referred to as "The Theory of Evolution." In truth, the usual thrust of the Theory of Evolution refers to the creation of man, not man's development thereafter. That is why it is billed as Evolutionism vs. Creationism.

Debating whether life started via evolution or divine creation is a chicken/egg inquiry and thus not susceptible of human resolution - not on this plane of existence, in any event.

By analogy, contemplate infinity. Space can't just stop, as the flat earthers once believed - wherever there is an end, by definition, there must be something just beyond that end. But, nothing can go on forever. Can it?

Even if one plops down solidly on the side of Creationism, there is the nagging question as to who created the Creator. Or His Creator, for that matter. Or... You get the idea.

Even the Bible makes the concept clear...er, clear that it can never be clear to us mere mortals, that is. "I am that I am." Parse that. "Thou cannot look upon me." Another golden oldie. God usually is depicted in the movies as being a light too bright to be perceived. If understood to be a literary device, then such a surrogate is fine. Problem is, people always want to take things literally, which is another way of saying they will believe what they want to believe, based solely upon their own preconceptions of the literal meaning of the words before them.

I, for one, have no problem with the Bible's description of God as being indescribable. We have no correlates in this reality with which to properly comprehend God. Or infinity of either the spatial or temporal variety, for that matter. We quite literally cannot look upon God because we don't have the right equipment. More accurately, we cannot properly contemplate the nature of God.

Consider the possibility that time does not exist everywhere. Consider a universe organized according to the Dewey Decimal System, rather than the linearity of time. Can't do it, can you? Is time really just Nature's way of keeping everything from happening all at once? Is it possible that things really do happen all at once and we simply choose to perceive them in a temporally linear fashion?

It is important to realize that there are things beyond our capacity to comprehend. Things that always will be beyond our comprehension, in fact.

All religions posit the existence of alternate realities. Some religions argue that this life is but a dream, dreamt by us while we sleep in those other realities. Tough to dispute that. Impossible, in fact. The one constant, however, is a belief in other realities. Realities that we cannot comprehend; not fully, in any event.

I bring all this up simply to illustrate the futility of trying to prove Creationism over Evolutionism...or the reverse, for that matter. Frankly, I see no particular conflict between the two.

Once created, biological entities evolve; that is, we respond to our environment and adjust accordingly to better survive. In order for something to evolve, something must exist in the first place, from which to evolve, else evolution cannot take place. Duh. Yes, an elementary concept, but one that gets lost in all the shouting. Evolution is not really a creation concept, at all. And creation is a concept that is beyond our ken, like infinity.

So many Creationists throw the Evolution baby out with the bathwater. Evolution is a fact of life. Always has been. Always will be. Merely because we see only what we are today does not mean we always have been this way or always will be. Imagine reality from the point of view of a dragonfly, whose lifespan is but a single day.

Evolution is influenced heavily by environment and experience. For example, loud noises evoke a startle response from everybody. Why? Because loud noises are made by large things. Often, hostile things. Things that might eat you. Only those who possessed and heeded their startle response ran for cover and thereby survived to pass on genes which included that startle response. Eventually, it became ingrained for everybody, since those without it got eaten by large things that made loud noises. Genetically encoded.

I warmed up the glow plugs and cranked the starter one last time. Stumbling at first, the engine sputtered to life, then roared, as I mashed the throttle. I'll bet tractors start on the first try in San Diego, I thought. Do they even have tractors in San Diego?

Thus, another task on my "getting ready for winter" list was under way. As I finished the job, I wondered if this was why white people were behind the greatest civilization known to man. Simply as a byproduct of getting ready for winter each year? After all, without the press of winter, there are lots of projects I simply never would get around to. Drive through the Ozark mountains sometime. Looks like a North Idaho to which winter never came.

Without the press of harsh weather, would we have developed the drive and need to accomplish what now is the hallmark of white civilization? I doubt it. Just as our skin color is a result of northern climates and the lack of a need for lots of melanin, so, too, is our drive a product of fighting the elements simply to survive. The long-term thinking necessary to survival over the course of a harsh winter has become genetic for white people, which is why we still get things done when we move to tropical climates.

Evolution also explains why so little gets done in the ghettos of the northern American cities and why they are such a disaster, every day looking more and more like, well...a jungle. Despite the presence of winter, the response to it - and the concomitant drive and long-term outlook - is not genetically encoded in blacks.

Instead, evolution explains the short-term mentality and physical aggression of blacks, who evolved in tropical climes and whose prime environmental adversaries were immediate, in the form of animals, only some of which made loud noises, and one another. Their survival mechanisms involved lots of posturing, running and fighting, traits on ready display in those North American ghettos.

This also explains why violent interracial crime throughout Western civilization almost exclusively is a one-way proposition: black on white. For blacks, whites represent easy prey, compared to that which evolution provided them previously. As time goes by, blacks can only soften and become less effective at their ingrained genetic response to their new environment.

For modern whites, however, blacks have become but another element in an already hostile environment. They will make us stronger before this is over. The white response will be long term, thus lag behind the black provocation, just as it has seemed to do. The thoughtful and considered white response, evolution tells us, also will be most effective...and permanent. Eventually, simple self preservation will rule.

I don't expect blacks to understand this - it's a white thing. After all, how many blacks have you ever seen on a tractor?
