Movie scene (I just made it up)...
Location: Old England (or any old place, pompous and wordy).
Establishing Shot: A large drawing room. Sir Guiden (who is also being pompous and wordy) stands by the window. Giant arched fireplace. Fine art and tapestry. Books lining the north wall. Sir Guiden is regaling all present, with his subtle (like a hammer) humor.
Guiden Speaks (with high faluttin' aires): "I knew this chap once, a scientist by trade, who accomplished, a most amazing trick. It seems that he could make himself disappear, into his own puff of logic."
The Damsels Laugh Uproariously.
First Beautiful Damsel Speaks: "Oh, Sir Guiden, you are positively charming!"
Second Beautiful Damsel Speaks: "Oh, Sir Guiden, you are most amazing!"
Third Beautiful Chaperon-Damsel Speaks: "Oh, Sir Guiden, what in the queen's name are you blathering on about now? Leave our sides, Sir, or I shall alert the palace guards!"
Next Establishing Shot: A room like many others. The basic comforts. No fireplace. Guiden (no longer a Sir) focuses on the laptop and begins to type about Old England.
And here we are, back at the start of the article. Or are we?
MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!!!
Ah ha. You are focused! I knew you could do it! Right here, right now, you are here and no where else. Doesn't sound like too big a deal, hmm?
What time do you have to be at work tomorrow? What time do you have to set your alarm, on that big-ben you call a clock? What's for dinner tomorrow night? Oops, you just left me. You were off. Like the scientist in the tale, or (insert anybody), you just disappeared. Your PERSPECTIVE switched elsewhere, and poof, you were gone to other matters.
For a moment, you "got out".
You are always switching between "perspectives" (aspects from which a target is mentally viewed).
AND the next moment finds you, in your thoughts, "viewing" a different location or task (other targets).
Now, physically, get up and go to that object. Touch it.
Congratulations. You have now perceived the event nonphysically (thought equals action) and physically (here, now).
And You Ask: Alan, since I didn't "travel" just now, how is that nonphysical?
If your physical is properly prepped (get ja "P's" here, mon), AND if you are alert on the awake/asleep line (as per the book), concentrate on a nearby perspective-target (on top of your dresser, for instance). See yourself there! A strong desire to be at the target is often enough to trigger a travel.
Whew, take a breath.
You've used the method four times already (and maybe more) during this article.
You switched your perspective and allowed yourself to exist elsewhere:
1. While reading my tale of the gallant, Sir Guiden.
(this is a perspective within your imagination)
2. When I begged your attention.
(a perspective focused to your center)
3. While you thought of work and alarm clocks.
(a perspective of future action)
4. While mentally-visiting your "nearby-whatever-ya-just-chose".
(a perspective of present action)
As you are already an expert at controlling your perspective, consider this:
It's a lot like tennis (which I play occasionally, and do not count as one of my great talents). You must "see" where the returning tennis-ball is going to land. You must "see" the bounce and arc of the ball. You must "be" where the ball will be.
My-simple-don't-let-it-bum-ya-just-slide-from-your-body-advice:
You are over there, standing next to the refrigerator. Heck, I can even see you over there! There you are by the fridge. Touch it. Put yourself into the view. That is you over there................
Alan Guiden
