On the Triangle of Art

     The first Triangle of Art we used for evocation was of the Solomonic design, painted on a piece of particleboard:

     I later designed my own Triangle, based on Lon Milo DuQuette’s design presented on page 264 of Tarot of Ceremonial Magick:

     I evoked spirits into a paper copy of this Triangle for a couple of years before getting the urge to create a more solid Triangle. I took a belt sander to the original Solomonic Triangle and painted a entirely new design on it. For my second Triangle of Art, I combined the elements of my first design with some inspiration from The Book of the Law:

     When the Triangle was complete I felt the desire to consecrate it. I was surprised to find that the Greater Key does not have a consecration ritual for the Triangle of Art, so I wrote my own and performed it.

Triangle of Art Consecration Ritual

Setup: Triangle on altar (as altar top), apex pointing East. Cup and Censer in the circle of Triangle. Oil of Abramelin. Incense: aloes woods and dark amber.

LBRP, LBRH.

Take Cup and anoint the points of the Triangle, saying:

I do purify this Triangle of Art with Water

Add incense to censer.

The Proclamation:

“My number is 11, as all their numbers who are of us. The Five Pointed Star, with a Circle in the Middle, & the circle is Red. My colour is black to the blind, but blue and gold are seen of the seeing. Also I have a secret glory for them that love me.” (AL 1:60)

The Consecration:

I, Frater Osiris, do consecrate this Triangle of Art;

by my will and in the names of Nuit, Hadit, and Ra-Hoor-Khuit, the Gods of the Aeon of Horus;

to serve me in my pursuit of the Great Work through the science of evocation;

to protect me from harm by the power of the Three Holy Words of the New Aeon:

Rubbing the side of the Triangle as if underlining the word, vibrate each word and recite the appropriate passages from The Book of the Law:

AGAPE!

“Come forth, o children, under the stars, & take your fill of love!” (AL 1:12)

“For I am divided for love’s sake, for the chance of union.” (AL 1:29)

“There is no bond that can unite the divided but love.” (AL 1:41)

THELEMA!

“Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.” (AL 1:40)

“The word of the Law is Thelema.” (AL 1:39)

“Thou hast no right but to do thy will. Do that, and no other shall say nay. For pure will, unassuaged of purpose, delivered from lust of result, is every way perfect.” (AL 1:42-44)

“Love is the law, love under will.” (AL 1:57)

ABRAHADABRA!

“Fear not at all; fear neither men nor Fates, nor gods, nor anything. Money fear not, nor laughter of the folk folly, nor any other power in heaven or upon the earth or under the earth. Nu is your refuge as hadit your light; and I am the strength, force, vigour of your arms.” (AL 3:17)

“I am Ra-Hoor-Khuit; and I am powerful to protect my servant. Success is thy proof: argue not; convert not; talk not overmuch! Them that seek to entrap thee, to overthrow thee, them attack without pity or quarter; & destroy them utterly!” (Al 3:42)

“I will bring you to victory & joy: I will be at your arms in battle & ye shall delight to slay. Success is your proof; courage is your armor; go on, go on in my strength; & ye shall turn not back for any!” (AL 3:46)

“Abrahadabra! The reward of Ra Hoor Khuit.” (AL 3:1)

Exclaim:

Anoint points with Abramelin oil.

I do declare this triangle duly consecrated!
