Installation of a Domestic Relic

T Polyphilus

This instrumental sacrament is for the purpose of properly honoring the presence of human remains physically present in a Thelemic household. These may be a lock of hair, hard skeletal remains, preserved skin, cremation ashes, or even prostheses (such as false teeth).

The relic is on a table, covered with a cloth. Also on the table are a lit candle, a vial of consecrated holy oil, and a bell. The CELEBRANT, who may be a member of the household or clergy who has come to serve it, wears white.
CELEBRANT (facing East with the appropriate gesture): APO PANTOS KAKODAIMONOS!
CELEBRANT turns to face the others present.

CELEBRANT: “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.”

ALL: “Love is the law, love under will.”

CELEBRANT makes the step and sign of a Man and a Brother.

CELEBRANT: I do confess the Lordship of the One
Most holy Chaos, secret of the sun;
And Babalon, dam of humanity,
She in whom we all shall rest finally;
And that sublime and awful Baphomet,
The lion and the serpent burning yet;
And One Thelemic Church within whose shrine
Our Gnosis joins the human and divine,
Just as the saints of old—and present day—
Embody and emit the solar ray;
And just as matter becomes life in me
Mass is a miracle in that degree;
And there is but a single lustral birth
By which high Wisdom ratifies our worth;
So at the last, my life eternally
Was ever one, is now, and yet shall be.
AUMGN. AUMGN. AUMGN.

The CELEBRANT uncovers the relic.
CELEBRANT: Here is/are the [describe relic] of N., who gained the crown of all on [date].
The CELEBRANT leads all in making the Hailing Sign of a Magician toward the relic.
CELEBRANT: Time that eateth his children hath not power on them that would not be children of Time. To them that think themselves immortal, that dwell alway in eternity, conscious of Nuit, throned upon the chariot of the sun, there is no death that men call death. In all the universe darkness is only to be found in the shadow of a gross and opaque planet, as it were for a moment; the universe itself is a flood of light eternal. Earth and its joys are but as shadows. There is no limit to the light.

(Change gender as needed:) Unto N. may there be granted the accomplishment of his true Will; whether he will absorption in the Infinite, or to be united with his chosen and preferred, or to be in contemplation, or to be at peace, or to achieve the labour and heroism of incarnation on this planet or another, or in any Star, or aught else, unto him may there be granted the accomplishment of his will; yea, the accomplishment of his will. AUMGN. AUMGN. AUMGN.

ALL: So mote it be.

CELEBRANT: The endurance of the matter of human bodies after death makes us mindful of the mutability of consciousness, and the impermanence of individual life in this world of shadows.

The Lord has said: “All corpses are sacred unto me; they shall not be touched save in mine eucharist.” (CCCLXX:22.)

The CELEBRANT makes each of the following crosses with oil on the relic.
CELEBRANT: O Lord, may this relic of N. be hallowed and consecrated. In the name of + CHAOS and of + BABALON and of + BAPHOMET. In honour of N. and to the glory of the Crowned and Conquering Child, might and majesty be thine. AUMGN.

ALL: So mote it be.

CELEBRANT: For indeed, “the true God is equally in all the shrines, and the true I in all the parts of the body and the soul.”

The CELEBRANT positions the relic in the place of honor it will occupy in the household.
CELEBRANT: Let us worship in the body the things of the body, so that this relic may reflect the light from beyond into these other temples of our bodies, ever inspiring the force of creation in those who adore that light.

ALL: So mote it be.

Each person present approaches the relic in turn, genuflects, makes a ficus and kisses it toward the relic.

CELEBRANT: Now I begin to pray: Thou Child,
Holy Thy name and undefiled!
Thy reign is come; Thy will is done.
Here is the Bread; here is the Blood.
Bring me through midnight to the Sun!
Save me from Evil and from Good!
That Thy one crown of all the Ten
Even now and here be mine. AMEN.

The CELEBRANT rings a bell.
CELEBRANT: Thank you for witnessing this rite. There is no law beyond Do what thou wilt.
