Caduceus: The Hermetic QuarterlyIntroduction and Contributors' Guidelines
Caduceus is a projected quarterly journal of Hermetic arts and sciences. We anticipate that the first issue will be released in early 1995. The journal will be co-edited by Al Billings and John Michael Greer.
The focus of Caduceus is the Hermetic tradition: that is, the various schools and traditions of Western esotericism, including Qabalah, ceremonial magic, alchemy, and the various systems of thought devised by Hermetic magical orders such as the Golden Dawn or the Martinist Order. We are interested in materials from the whole span of Hermetic history, from its origins in the Classical world to the present day. We would like to see articles of a range of types, from the scholarly through the theoretical to those dealing with practical technique. In all cases, end-notes and a bibliography are encouraged.
We're not interested in Thelemic material. Nothing against Thelema; it's just that there are plenty of Thelemic periodicals out there. Similarly, we're not interested in neopagan material, for the same reason.
Finally, we aren't interested in "flamage" (articles written to attack persons or points of view) or in articles making vast unsubstantiated claims of personal power, authority, and so forth.
