PULTUSK , a See also:

town of See also:Russian See also:Poland, in the See also:government of See also:Warsaw, 33 M. N. of the See also:city of Warsaw, on the right See also:bank of the Narew. Pop. (1897), 15,878. The town was almost entirely destroyed by See also:fire in 1875. It is now well built, and had before the fire a See also:palace (1319) which was formerly a See also:residence of the bishops of See also:Plock. The See also:industries include woollen, See also:linen and See also:hosiery See also:mills, See also:copper See also:works and See also:potteries. In 1703 See also:Charles XII. of See also:Sweden defeated and captured the greater See also:part of a Saxon See also:army near this town, and in the same locality the See also:French defeated the Russians in See also:December 18o6. The town was founded as See also:early as 956.
