MARCELLUS I . succeeded See also:Marcellinus, after a considerable See also:interval, most probably in May 308, under See also:Maxentius. He was banished from See also:Rome in 309 on See also:account of the tumult caused by the severity of the penances he had imposed on Christians who had lapsed under the See also:recent persecution. He died the same See also:year, being succeeded by See also:Eusebius. He is commemorated on the 16th of See also:January.
