In a See also:cave of Cyllene Maia became by See also:Zeus the See also:mother of the See also:god See also:Hermes. The See also:story is told in the Hymn to Hermes attributed to See also:Homer. She was identified by the See also:Romans with Maia Majesta, an old See also:Italian goddess of See also:spring, to whom a See also:sacrifice was offered on the 1st of May by the See also:priest of See also:Vulcan.
