He owes his fame almost exclusively to one See also:opera, Das Nachtlager von See also:Granada (1834), which kept the See also:stage for See also:half a See also:century in spite of the changes in musical See also:taste. It was written in the See also:style of See also:Weber, and is remarkable especially for its flow of genuine See also:melody and See also:depth of feeling. The same qualities are found in Kreutzer's See also:part-songs for men's voices, which at one See also:time were extremely popular in See also:Germany, and are still listened to with See also:pleasure. Amongst these " Der Tag See also:des Herrn " (" The See also:Lord's See also:Day ") may be named as the most excellent. Kreutzer was a prolific composer, and wrote a number of operas for the See also:theatre at See also:Vienna, which have disappeared from the stage and are not likely to be revived.
