GYMNOSTOMACEAE , an See also:

order of Ciliate See also:Infusoria (q.v.), characterized by a closed mouth, which only opens to See also:swallow See also:food actively, and See also:body See also:cilia forming a See also:general or partial investment (rarely represented by a See also:girdle of membranellae), but not differentiated in different regions. With the Aspirotrochaceae (q.v.) it formed the Holotricha of See also:Stein.
