GOBLET , a large type of drinking-See also:

vessel, particularly one shaped like a See also:cup, without handles, and mounted on a shank with a See also:foot. The word is derived from the 0. Fr. gobelet, diminutive of See also:gobel, gobeau, which See also:Skeat takes to be formed from See also:Low See also:Lat. cupellus, cup, diminutive of cupa, tub, cask (see DRINKING- VESSELS).
