DREWENZ , a See also:

river of See also:Germany, a right-See also:bank tributary of the See also:Vistula. It rises on the See also:plateau of See also:Hohenstein in See also:East See also:Prussia, 5 m. S.W. of the See also:town of Hohenstein. After passing through the See also:lake of Drewenz (7 M. See also:long), it flows S.W. through See also:flat marshy See also:country, and forms, from just below the town of See also:Strassburg to that of Leibitsch, a distance of 30 m., the frontier between Prussia and See also:Russian See also:Poland. After a course of 148 m. it enters the Vistula from the right, a little above the fortress of See also:Thorn. It is navigable only for rafts. Lake Drewenz is connected with See also:Elbing (and so with the Baltic) by the navigable Elbing-Oberland See also:Canal.
