CREVILLENTE , a See also:

town of eastern See also:Spain, in the See also:province of See also:Alicante, and on the See also:Murcia-Alicante railway. Pop. (1900) 10,726. Crevillente is a picturesque old town built among the eastern foothills of the Sierra de Crevillente. Its See also:flat-roofed Moorish houses are enclosed by gardens of See also:cactus, See also:dwarf See also:palm, See also:orange and other subtropical See also:plants, interspersed with masses of See also:rock. The surrounding See also:country, though naturally sterile, is irrigated from two adjacent springs, which differ in temperature by no less than 25° F. The See also:district is famous for its melons, and also produces See also:wine, See also:olives, See also:wheat and See also:esparto grass. See also:Local See also:industries include the manufacture of coarse See also:cloth, esparto fabrics, oil and See also:flour.
